Bah! Humbug!

I’m not really sure what kind of mood I’m in right now. I am not mad or anything like that, I’m just in a bleh mood.
In the last post, I mentioned that I was going to eat with Ashley unless she canceled. Well, it didn’t happen because I thought I had a fever. I felt really weak and dizzy, so I let Ashley know that I thought I had a fever and she said it wasn’t good for her either anyway. Well, after that I took my temperature and it was normal. Then I ate dinner, and thirty minutes later I felt perfectly fine. That’s when I realized that I was so busy and I ad forgotten to eat anything that day. I guess that’s why I felt so dizzy. My throat had been hurting also, but it has gotten better since yesterday. I tried to reschedule with her, but I don’t think that’s going to happen either. Oh well.
Yep, I got that job. My first day was Friday. I got all my paperwork done and a short intro into what I am supposed to do. I am working sparingly this week because it is finals week. From the 12th to the 23rd, I am working full time. I have to help set up a bunch of labs around campus. There is a shipment of about 400 computers or so coming in. Then starting in the spring term, I am working 20 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursday and one on Wednesday night. My primary task will be to get computers around campus that are not on the network on the network (called ArgoNet). Other than that, I am a tech support guy. There is another guy, a senior, that works in the same office I do, but I do not know how much we will be working together.
I got my new PocketPC. It is pretty nice. It feels faster than I expected. I have only one complaint about it: The integrated wireless receiver isn’t very good. I can be in my room right next to my Wifi antennae and get a weak signal strength. I never had that problem with my Wifi CF card. I guess I’ll have to play around with my router to see if I can do something to improve the field.
I have had one final so far, and it was the Saturday morning final. It was pretty annoying to have a final on a Saturday! I made an A on it and an A in the class. My next final is tomorrow night, Modern Astronomy. I am not afraid of it at all.
I had a pretty annoying experience this morning. I had an orthodontist appointment at 8:30AM today. You know, they tell me these appointments are 20 minutes, but seriously I have never had an appointment there be less than 40 minutes. So, I got there at 8:20AM. I was called to the hot seat at 8:45; nothing like a 25 minute wait. The nurse who worked on me was someone I had never seen before, and since I’ve been there well over a year, I assume she was new. I was quite uncomfortable. Well, see, she looked like she was about my age. Maybe it is silly, but that makes me uncomfortable. Don’t misunderstand me! It isn’t age discrimination! It has to do with the fact that having a rather nice looking peer of the opposite sex that close to me is uncomfortable for me. So… I could tell she was new; namely because that 20 minute appointment took about 90 minutes! She worked very slow and she didn’t know how to get my door-brackets open. Still, I did not want to say or do anything that would show that I was getting frustrated (she was hurting me a bit too). I didn’t want to be a jerk. Everyone has to be new at least once in their lives, and I would rather be an encouragement than a jerk. She seemed to have gotten a little upset by time she was done. It might have had to do with the fact that she knew she took a long time, and a few of the older nurses kept asking her if she needed their help. I wanted to say something uplifting or hug her or something. LOL! But they have that whole doctor/patient thing and nothing seemed appropriate, so I just left it alone. Yeah, 90 minutes… I was late for work, so I immediately called my boss to let him know what was going on and that I was on my way. I guess that’s why doctors call us patients. So, thus began my second day at work. I worked for about four hours on my own computer. I come back Wednesday after my Science of Computing final.
I looked at my cell phone this morning and someone had called me late last night. My phone was apparently on vibrate. I didn’t recognize the number and it was unlisted. I wonder who it was. Hmm… You know, when I woke up this morning, I was thinking about the most unlikely person. Ever get that? It was someone I lost contact with right after my sophomore year in high school. Sigh… I wonder how she is doing… I had heard rumors that she hasn’t been doing well… It is bad when you start thinking about old friends long gone, people you used to truly care about and then they ran off and did something. :-(
In other news, I miss Caddy…
